The Bottomless Basket

This past Easter weekend was delightful.

Between Easter service, Cadbury eggs, comfort food, and sweet time with family, I was reminded of a few things:

The best things in life are those which we are undeserving of and could never earn nor buy.

God’s unfailing love.

The unconditional love in my life astounds me. I do not deserve it and did nothing great to get it.

This love breathes life into me; sustains me; keeps me going.

But it’s not just for me. It’s for you too.

There’s a God who can’t wait to poor His endless love upon you and set you free. He died for you, so that you could spend eternity with Him forever. He rose again, conquering death for all who will turn to Him.

When my siblings and I were little my parents would hide our Easter baskets around the house for us to find. We loved the anticipation. Was it in the closest? Or did Dad hide it somewhere sneaky, out of reach? It made finally receiving our treats that much sweeter. I sure love my Easter baskets (thanks Mom!) and I’ll never feel too old for them. But the truth is that the best gift ever handed me was the gift of what Jesus did for me on the cross. And although sometimes we may feel like God’s love is hidden from us or just out of reach; it’s not. This sweet gift is one God wants so badly to give you; all you have to do is receive and let Him love you. He’s got an awesome bottomless basket of love waiting for you….and it’s calorie free.

Easter. It’s a beautiful thing.
