This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of heading to Indianapolis with about 200 other women for the Influence conference.
Friends, I cannot tell you how wonderful and inspiring it was to be apart of a conference with such talented, uplifting, and like-minded women of God.
This was a group of writers, designers, and entrepreneurs; all so different but united with one common purpose: to make much of Him by influencing our world with our voice.
I am so thankful for this opportunity and all the wisdom and expertise that was shared. My head is spinning with information overload…but it was totally worth it.
A few highlights from the weekend:
As I mentioned in a previous post, I signed up for this conference knowing no one. All I knew was that I was supposed to go…with or without friends. But not only did I end up in a seat on the plane right next to this amazing girl headed to the same conference, but I was paired up with sweet and welcoming roommates (Therese, Emily, and Chelsea) and the best chauffeur from the airport to the hotel I could have hoped for (Hi Sarah!).
Talk about a great start to the weekend.
We attended blogging strategy sessions, “life” sessions, topical workshops, listened to panel discussions, ate, networked, shopped, and worshiped together. I met so many fabulous women who I cannot wait to continue to get to know and support.
And let’s be honest, one of the things I was most excited about was getting to meet Jenna from Eat, Live, Run (Hey girl!). ELR was one of the first blogs I started following and has remained one of my favorites. I just love how real, down to earth, and relate-able her style is. Um, and her recipes are all amazing. You should go to her site now and then start cooking. Seriously. Her blog is how I even discovered this conference, so saying “hi” was a must.
Jenna led a workshop on how to publish a book and shared all about her experience writing and publishing White Jacket Required. Thanks for being so sweet, helpful, and personable Jenna!
Attending a blogging conference was a goal of mine for 2012 and thanks to all the support from Big Fisch, it became a reality. I highly encourage any female bloggers who are followers of Christ to attend next year…it’s worth every penny and minute of your time. It was a powerful reminder that God has created us all with passions and gifts for a purpose…to be used in ways we can’t even foresee, for His glory.
These Dove words of wisdom were right on the money this weekend. And yes I ate them.
If you have a passion and a dream on your heart, pursue it. What’s stopping you?
