One of my favorite parts about summer is finding compelling, easy to read, light-hearted fiction books to kick back with under the sun. There are few things more relaxing to me than lounging near the beach, pool, or backyard patio, and soaking up the sun with a good book and refreshing breeze. Okay, maybe add a margarita. And a masseuse rubbing my neck, shoulders, and back. Ahhh, there we go. Relaxation.
A few months ago I saw a trailer for the move The Help, which is coming out this August, and learned that the movie was made after Kathryn Stockett’s book (The Help) grew in popularity. When I saw that the book was also a New York Time’s Best Seller, I went on Amazon.com and orderd it right away for my trip to Aruba. Plus, I love stories set anywhere from the 1930s-1970s. Especially stories set in the good ole’ south.
I LOVED this book! The characters and story line hooked me in, and if it weren’t for my nerves and anxiety while flying on the airplane, I wouldn’t have been able to set it down. If you haven’t red this yet, I would definitely recommend it. It’s my ideal type of summer reading.
But sadly I’ve finished the book and miss it terribly. Although I wish Kathryn Stockett had 10 more stories that followed this one waiting for me on the self, she doesn’t. So please do tell… What books have you read lately? Any good reads you would recommend? I would love love love to know!
Happy 4th of July weekend, friends! Eat a hot dog, slice some watermelon, and enjoy a show of fireworks.
